#02: Cosplaying at GiCC 2018

One of our favorite parts of Gibraltar International Comic Con is the cosplay! From Spiderman and Blackwidow to Jasmine and Aladdin, the lobby and Exhibit Hall are often filled with amazing costumes. However, the safety of our attendees and guests is our number one priority. If your costume includes a prop or weapon, it must be checked and tagged at one of our Costume Props Check Desks.

THE LOCATION WILL BE NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO THE CON, AND ITS PRECISE LOCATION SHALL BE SHARED ON THE OFFICIAL MAP RELEASED A COUPLE OF WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF THE EVENT (LOCATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE).

So … before you pack up those props, here are a few things to remember when attending Gibraltar International Comic Con 2018:

  • No functional props or weapons (live firearms, sharp blades, etc.) are allowed at Gibraltar International Comic Con 2018.
  • All costume props and weapons must conform to Gibraltar law.
  • Projectile costume props and weapons must be rendered inoperable.
  • Functional (real) arrows must have their tips removed and be bundled and zip-tied to a quiver.
  • Costume swords must be tied to your costume in such a way that they can’t be drawn.
  • Your costume cannot have any parts or accessories that can readily cause harm to you or any of your fellow attendees or other members of the public.
  • No parts of your costume can fire, spray, shoot, or ignite.
  • Your costume must be appropriate for all ages.

Apart from that, if you have any worry that a part of your costume might cause a problem or get you thrown out of the convention, arrested, or injured, please leave it at home.

Remember, ALL costume props must be inspected at the Costume Props Check Desk. After your costume props have been checked, they will be tagged by security and you will be given a wristband to wear. If your costume prop is not tagged, security will escort you to the security station for inspection.

Important Note: If you do not want to have your costume props inspected or tagged, or if you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume props to Gibraltar International Comic Con 2018.
